Australia’s department of agriculture has reported exports of more than 92,000 tonnes of beef for the month of August. 

It said this was the highest monthly total in almost two years; it was the highest since June 2020. 

The main destination in August was Japan with 22,000 tonnes, followed by South Korea with 18,368 tonnes and China with 16,803 tonnes. 

Across the first eight months of this year, Australian beef exports have reached a volume of more than 570,000 tonnes, down by 1.8% on the figure for the same period in 2021.
