USMEF urges approval of Douglas McKalip nomination
The US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) has urged the Senate in Washington DC to give “prompt approval” to the nomination of Douglas McKalip as chief agricultural negotiator at the office of the US Trade Representative.
USMEF welcomed the Senate’s finance committee’s approval of the nomination and urged the full Senate to give the appointment the green light.
Dan Halstrom, USMEF chief executive, said Mr McKalip’s experience of and expertise in the agricultural sector would benefit efforts the US Trade Representative’s office is engaged in to improve and maintain international market access for US red meat.
Mr McKalip has worked at the US Department of Agriculture since 1994.
