Brazilian beef exports set for record in August

According to data released by Brazil’s ministry of overseas trade (Secex), the country’s beef industry could be on course for record exports in August.

Secex said that packers and traders shipped more than 128,000 tonnes of beef in the first three weeks of the month.

It projected that, if these rates continue, full figures for the month could give a volume of 197,000 tonnes, considerably higher than the existing export record, a volume of 187,000 tonnes, which the industry achieved in September 2021.

Preliminary figures for August show an average export value of $6,255 per tonne of beef shipped. This is down by 4.5% from the figure for July 2022.
