Shavings success in store for Sadesa
As part of a company policy to reduce carbon emissions, Argentinean tanning group Sadesa is running a programme to transform wet blue shavings into organic fertiliser.
It is working together with specialist fertiliser producer Biovita Susamericana to transform the proteins available in large amounts in wet blue shavings into fertiliser.
Sadesa has said it aims to achieve chrome recovery from 10% of its wet blue shavings and transform the other 90% into fertiliser. It is trying the idea out at its Lomas de Zamora plant in Argentina but aims to expand the project by the end of 2023.
