Turkey: tanners calculate chemicals price increases

16/08/2022

Turkish tanners have calculated that, compared to a year ago, they are now having to pay 40% more for leather dyestuffs, 50% more for fatliquors, 70% for a number of widely used finishing auxiliaries and as much as 150% more for formic acid.

Industry observers have blamed a worldwide increase in intermediate chemicals, disruption to supply from China owing to covid-19 restrictions there and high transportation costs.
