Leather-export growth for India
India’s Council for Leather Export (CLE) has reported export earnings for the industry of $1.4 billion for the first three months of the current financial year (April-June 2022), growth of 42% year on year.
Leather footwear exports contributed $614.4 million to the total, up by nearly 45%, while the figure for leathergoods was $353 million, an increase of 44%. Shipments of finished leather were almost flat at $118.7 million. Exports of leather garments had a value of $90.3 million, up by 44%.
