Meat and leather producer JBS has suspended operations at six of its packing plants in Brazil. Cattle it had already sourced for processing at these plants will be reallocated to other plants in its network.

Industry commentators in Brazil said the decision to suspend activity at six plants had taken the market by surprise and said it was an indication that a slowdown in demand could be just around the corner.
