Kindness of late tanner comes to light
The founder of the Conceria Tirrena in Civitanova in the Italian region of Le Marche, the late Romano Giordani, left money in his will to help older people in his home village.
Mr Giordani, who founded the tannery in 1953, died in January at the age of 91. His will became public in late July and revealed that the leather manufacturer had left €600,000 for a specific purpose. He wanted the money to go towards helping needy people over the age of 75 in the village of Torre San Patrizio, 20 kilometres from Civitanova.
Discussions are now under way among the village authorities in Torre San Patrizio, which has a total population of around 2,000, to work out who qualifies for a share of Mr Giordani’s generosity.
