New York fair ends on a positive note

18/07/2022

Lineapelle New York returned on July 13-15 and despite being held against a backdrop of inflation, supply chain issues, shipping and logistics problems and the war in Ukraine, the event ended on a positive note.

There were 119 exhibitors, including 60 Italian companies and 59 from other countries. Of these, 91 were tanneries displaying mainly fashion leathers to the designers who visited the fair.

In the spotlight were the collections for autumn-winter 2023-2024 inspired by a concept called Possible Worlds, developed by Lineapelle’s dedicated fashion committee. Among the novelties of this edition were one-to-one business meetings with customers and stakeholders, organised in a lounge dedicated to ‘responsible Italian leather’.

On the day before the inauguration of the fair, presentations were held behind closed doors with a group of US interior designers to explain the “green power” of Italian leather.

The parity between the dollar and the euro, which had not been seen in 20 years, was also commented on. It made purchases from the European exhibitors more favourable and could be a positive impulse for the import of European leathers by US designers and brands.
