Plan to reduce livestock numbers sparks protests

The Dutch government’s plan to reduce nitrogen by half by 2030 has been applauded by climate activists, but has not gone down well with farmers.
Part of the government’s plan is a measure that could cut livestock numbers by 30%. In response, the farming community has staged a number protests, which have included blocking roads and access to supermarkets and food distribution centres.
