Changes at the top at Zschimmer & Schwarz

Leather chemicals supplier Zschimmer & Schwarz has announced that Dr Christoph Riemer will join the company on August 1 as part of the senior management team and will take over as chief executive on January 1.

Dr Riemer will join from Wacker Chemie, where he is vice-president and head of the Munich-based company’s polymers business in Europe. Earlier in his career, he held positions at Süd-Chemie and McKinsey.

He will replace Wolfgang Novak, who will leave his position of managing director of Zschimmer & Schwarz at the end of this year.

General manager, Dr Martin Haberl, will remain in post to help Zschimmer & Schwarz manager the transition effectively, but will retire midway through 2023. Chief finance officer, Dietmar Clausen, will become general manager.

Dr Riemer said he wanted to promote “a culture where entrepreneurial behaviour is given top priority, openness to ideas and other perspectives, transparent and hierarchy-free communication and a spirit of cooperation that allows mistakes and learns from them”.
