Skills project concludes in Brussels
Skills4Smart TCLF, a four-and-a-half-year project that aims, with funding from Europe’s Erasmus+ programme, to “upskill and reskill” people working in the textiles, clothing, leather, and footwear (TCLF) sectors in many European countries, has now concluded.
A final conference for the project took place in Brussels in mid-June to present the outcomes.
Twenty-two project partners conducted in-depth analysis of employment and skills in the TCLF sectors in the EU and have presented a framework for building “a solid sectoral skills strategy”. They said the strategy is “grounded in facts and data”. There is also a step-by-step guide on how to move from analysis to action.
Secretary general of leather industry body COTANCE, Gustavo Gonzalez-Quijano, said the project was a “precursor for what will be done in the future” regarding skills and training in these sectors.
