UK industry gathers for London event
Representatives of all segments of the leather sector in the UK gathered in London on June 9 for the 2022 Leather Industry Dinner, hosted by the Worshipful Company of Leathersellers.
The immediate past-Master of Leathersellers, and former chairman of Scottish Leather Group, Jonathan Muirhead, welcomed guests to the event and said he was confident the industry would emerge strongly in the months ahead from the current challenges the global market represents. He expressed hope that finished product brands would be encouraged to buy more leather from the UK.
Mr Muirhead then paid tribute to Jessica Aiers, whose last task as business development manager at industry body Leather UK was to organise the event.
He pointed out that in her five years promoting the leather industry in the UK she had attracted enough new members to Leather UK to double its membership. He also praised the volume and quality of the output she had achieved on the industry’s behalf on social media and carried out important work on an influential survey of consumer attitudes, publishing the results at the start of 2022.
