Catalonia continues its contribution to Louis Vuitton production
Louis Vuitton is continuing to invest in handbag production in Spain, specifically in Catalonia. It has established a new production site at Campllong, close to the city of Girona.
The new facility covers 8,000 square-metres and replaces a smaller facility in that area.
This takes the number of factories in the region to five. Louis Vuitton also has production facilities in Barberà del Vallés and Santa Perpètua de Mogoda. These factories are just to the north of Barcelona and around 80 kilometres from the new site at Campllong.
Reports from Spain suggest that a total of 1,600 people are employed in making and distributing Louis Vuitton leathergoods in Catalonia.
These handbag production sites are also within easy reach of the leather manufacturing cluster in and around Igualada.
