Mexico reduces its imports of European footwear
The main footwear industry body in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, CICEG, has compiled figures that show a fall in the volume and value of footwear imports into Mexico from two major European manufacturing countries, Spain and Italy.
According to CICEG’s analysis, Spain exported 696,924 pairs of footwear to Mexico in 2021, down by 13.9% compared to 2020. In 2021, the total value of these imports from Spain was $26.5 million, giving a price per pair of $38.10.
Mexico’s footwear imports from Italy last year amounted to 466,048 pairs, a fall in volume of 1.7%. The combined value was $95.5 million, giving a price per pair of $205.02.
