Saks Potts appoints first chief executive

Luxury label Saks Potts, based in Copenhagen and known for its leather outerwear, has named its first chief executive since the company’s founding by friends Catherine Saks and Barbara Potts in 2014.

The pair have appointed Ganni alumna Josefine Laigaard to the role, effective May 1. Ms Laigaard, who most recently served as head of business development at the fellow Danish fashion brand, will also take on co-ownership of Saks Potts. Details of her stake were not disclosed.

Having previously supported Ganni’s entry into the Chinese and South Korean markets, plus spearheaded the brand’s pre-owned offer across Scandinavia and the UK, the executive’s appointment to Saks Potts’ own leadership team comes at a time when the label’s founders have expressed their desire to scale internationally.

Specifically, the brand will now move to expand its presence in the UK, US and Asia, they said.

Following a repositioning in 2021, the label is also “more than ever” committed to the quality and sustainability of its designs, especially in terms of craftsmanship and materials, Ms Saks and Ms Potts expressed to reporters.
