The US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) has said that the country’s beef exports  have come close to a value of $2 billion in the first two months of 2022.

“Global demand for US beef continues to soar,” USMEF said, “led by excellent growth in value in key Asian and Latin American markets.”

US meat companies exported a combined total of 227,567 tonnes of beef in January and February, bringing in revenues of $1.93 billion. These figures represent an increase in volume of 9%, but a surge in value of 46%.

USMEF’s chief executive, Dan Halstrom, said international demand for US had “never been higher”.
