Simple message for World Leather Day
Outgoing chair of the management board of Leather Naturally, Egbert Dikkers, has explained that the campaign group and multi-stakeholder organisation the Leather Working Group had decided to “adopt” World Leather Day to coincide with the opening day of APLF 2022.
World Leather Day already existed, he explained, but on taking the decision to promote it, Leather Naturally and the Leather Working Group decided several weeks ago that the opening day of APLF in Dubai would be the ideal occasion.
“We want to show the world that leather is part of the solution,” Mr Dikkers said.
Operations manager for the Leather Working Group, Christina Trautmann, said that, because preparation time was short for World Leather Day 2022, the two organisations had decided to keep the message clear and simple. “The message is that leather is a durable, versatile, upcycled material,” she said, “and it must have a place as one of the key renewable materials.”
