Bader Leather dedicates GM awards to colleagues in Ukraine

Automotive group General Motors (GM) has named its top global suppliers for 2021. Leather manufacturer Bader Leather Group was among the winners, which number 134 suppliers from 16 different countries in total.

GM awarded a further distinction, its Overdrive Award, to some of those suppliers. It said winners of the Overdrive Award had displayed “outstanding achievement” in helping the automotive group meet its key priorities.

Thirty-one suppliers from 12 countries were listed as winners of the Overdrive Award for 2021. Once again, Bader Leather Group was among them.

“This year’s Supplier of the Year event provided us with the opportunity to recognise our suppliers for persevering through one of the most challenging years the industry has ever faced,” said GM’s vice-president for global purchasing and supply chain, Shilpan Amin. “These top suppliers showed resilience and reinforced their commitment to pursuing sustainability and innovation.”

On receiving the awards, the general manager of Bader USA, Fernando Caccia, said: “This is a testament to our strong commitment to quality, excellence, partnership and sustainability worldwide.”

Mr Caccia added that the Bader team wanted to dedicate the awards to their colleagues at the facility Bader Leather has in Lviv. They and their families and friends have had their lives “turned upside down”, Mr Caccia said, by the war that began with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
