Cost pressure unlike anything seen before, Buckman says
Leather chemicals manufacturing group Buckman has said the prices of all of its products will rise from April 1 or as customer contracts allow.
It said the increases would vary depending on geography and the particular markets served but confirmed that all of its product offerings would be affected.
Buckman said the measures it was taking were unprecedented, but required because of cost increases it was facing for raw materials, energy, packaging, fuel and logistics. The company argued that “proper price management” was essential if it is to be able to continue to supply its products to its existing customers.
At the same time, it said it would continue its efforts “to drive operational excellence” with the aim of minimising the impact of supply chain disruption and cost increases.
It concluded: “Current cost pressure is unlike anything that has been seen in the history of the specialty chemical sector.”
