Tanners in Turkey are increasingly viewing the effort and investment required to achieve certification from multi-stakeholder body the Leather Working Group (LWG) as important and worthwhile.

Local reports suggest there are already around 60 companies in the Turkish leather industry with LWG certification at gold, silver or bronze level.

But as conviction increases that the programme can help leather producers market their products more effectively in overseas markets, indications are that a further 30 will achieve certification before the end of 2022.
