Tanners in Turkey have said that, in addition to increases in prices for leather chemicals, they are also experiencing shortages of some key products.

Reports suggest that availability of formic acid, for example, is now restricted in Turkey.

In response, leather technologists have advised tanners to adapt their processes and use alternatives such as acetic acid, lactic acid or boric acid in pickling and to regulate pH levels.
