Date shifts elsewhere prompt Futurmoda change

26/01/2022

The Futurmoda footwear exhibition in Elche will take place for the 47th time, but later than previously announced. The new dates are March 23 and 24.

In a statement, footwear components manufacturers’ association AEC, said the decision to change the dates of the event had come as the result of a survey of exhibiting companies.

Fears elsewhere over rising cases of covid-19 had prompted changes to other international events, AEC said. It offered no examples, but a change to the programme for the next edition of Micam would have placed the start of the Milan event, March 13, too close to Futurmoda’s original slot (March 9-10).

AEC said the results of its survey were conclusive: participating companies do not want to miss any of the commercial opportunities these shows offer. It said the change of date had led 90% of companies that took part in Futurmoda in March 2020, before the pandemic, to confirm participation this time.

In March 2020, Futurmoda attracted 350 exhibitors, with 87 of them leather suppliers. Of these, 58 were from Spain, 21 from Italy, five from Portugal and others from Germany, India and Poland.
