Italian tannery becomes carbon neutral

Italian tannery Conceria Superior has been awarded carbon-neutral certification after reducing its carbon footprint and offsetting emissions through the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) programme.

The carbon credits support a forestation project in Brazil’s Fazenda Nascente do Luar, a tropical savannah rich in biodiversity.

Stefano Caponi, CEO of the Santa Croce sull'Arno company, told local press: “My vision was to create a balance between medium and long-term benefits, guaranteed by industrial innovation and energy efficiency projects, with the investment in carbon credits for the neutralisation of emissions.”
