AICC reflects on busy year
Italy’s national association of leather chemists, AICC, has held its 2021 technical conference, with ‘Restart, Future and Innovation’ as the theme.
The organisation’s secretary, Giancarlo Lovato, said AICC had had a busy year, in spite of the ongoing challenges presented by the covid-19 pandemic. He said it had hosted three conferences and eight courses, seminars or online training sessions.
Dr Lovato explained that AICC had also presented a series of grants, scholarships and book awards to students in tanning training centres across Italy, and had devoted considerable time and effort to the organization of next year’s III IULTCS European Congress, which will take place in Vicenza in September.
Technical presentations at the event included talks on the Life Goast project, sustainability in the beamhouse, leather’s circularity in comparison to alternative materials, traceability and the path to zero environmental impact tanning.
More than 150 people attended the event, which had TFL, Fenice, GSC Group, Cartigliano, Syncolor and Feltre as sponsors.
