First-hand insight for Frans Timmermans during farm visit
Executive vice-president of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, spent the day at a beef and dairy farm in Belgium on December 7 at the invitation of multi-stakeholder group European Livestock Voice.
The group runs a campaign called #Meatthefacts to promote accurate information about the meat and livestock sector and it wanted to give Frans Timmermans some first-hand insight into what happens on farms in Europe.
Mr Timmermans, who plays a leading role in rolling out the Green Deal, the European Commission’s far reaching sustainability funding programme, also had the opportunity to engage with European Livestock Voice stakeholders, including leather industry body COTANCE. On the day, COTANCE presented the Commission vice-president with a leather apron.
