Native Dubai broadens retail horizons
30/11/2021
Native-branded products will land on Farfetch and at Rubaiyat from December, while Wolf and Badger’s website is already stocking its articles as of late November.
The brand describes itself on its own site as “uncompromisingly unchangeable” and “old-fashioned” when it comes to artisanship, “using skills, techniques and artistry passed on from generation to generation”.
In terms of materials, it primarily uses bull, camel and cow leather (mainly from its Abu Dhabi tannery, but also from Italy), exotic skins such as alligator, crocodile, ostrich and python, plus an undisclosed kind of “water-resistant” leather sourced from Germany.
On its decision to incorporate camel leather, Native said that the veg-tanned and chromium-free material “is stronger than cow leather and completely local”.
