The chief executive of leather and finished product manufacturing group Pittards, Reg Hankey, has been named a Fellow of the City & Guilds London Institute, an organisation founded in 1878 to promote high standards in technical education.

Mr Hankey earned this distinction, Pittards has said, for his leadership, imagination and integrity, and for having made a positive impact on the leather industry.

He received the award from a senior member of the UK royal family, The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, at a ceremony in London in October.
