Visitors return to Micam
The president of Italy’s main footwear industry association, Assocalzaturifici, Siro Badon, officiated at the opening ceremony for Micam on September 19, saying later that he was greatly encouraged by an unexpectedly high day-one attendance of around 9,500 visitors.
“This is the biggest footwear exhibition taking place this year,” he said. “We have 655 exhibitors, with 400 of them from Italy and the remaining 255 representing 20 different countries. We are very hopeful that these are indications that we are leaving covid-19 behind.”
He said he hoped the September event also represented good preparation for the next edition of Micam in February when, he said, Assocalzaturifici hoped “things will really take off”, with exhibitor and visitor numbers return to pre-pandemic levels.
