Beamhouse innovation is the focus for Arzignano students
Two of the recent graduates from Arzignano’s Green Leather Managers programme have shared some of the details from a project they worked on together for their final theses.
Nicolò Panarotto and Michele Vallarsa decided to devote their project work to sustainability in beamhouse operations.
Mr Panarotto told leatherbiz that their work highlighted the need for change across beamhouses. They said they had concentrated on identifying “innovative mechanical operations” that can help reduce the pollutant load in wastewater.
This resulted in decreased levels of chemical oxygen demand (COD), biological oxygen demand (BOD), sulfides and chlorides in the project work they did.
