US cattle slaughter up

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has confirmed that abattoirs across the US slaughtered a total of just over 16.4 million head of cattle in the first six months of 2021. This represents an increase of 5.75% year on year.

Cattle USDA inspected had an average live weight of 1,375 pounds, equating to 625 kilos. This is the same level as a year ago.
