Brush-off leather revival predicted in new TFL trends catalogue
Leather chemicals group TFL has released its new colour trends catalogue for the autumn-winter 2022-23 season.
The catalogue has two sections: Wearing (for garments, footwear and accessories) and Living (for interior design).
In this edition, Wearing has what TFL calls a revival of brush-off leathers “with amber nuances and reduced thickness for lightweight bags”. The section also includes leathers with waxy finishes and “a vegetable-like look on calfskin and small skins” to achieve high gloss and brightness on slip-on and lace-up moccasins, boots and high-heeled ankle boots.
For the Living section, TFL’s impression is that interior design is “evolving towards a sense of purity”, inspired by monozukuri, the Japanese art of making things. Embossing and pull-up effects on buffalo and bovine leathers are part of this.
