Change of location allows Radermecker to modernise

10/06/2021

Belgian leather manufacturer Radermecker took advantage of the interruptions of 2020 to move to a new production site in Comines-Warneton.

The company has said the new site is substantially smaller than the one the current management team, Nicolas Quintin and Loïc Honoré, acquired from the Radermecker family five years ago.

According to Mr Quintin, the move provided the perfect opportunity to introduce efficiencies such as a new boiler system that will help it save energy and new finishing technology that will help it save on finishing chemicals.

There is also a new biological treatment plant at the new site, which has allowed Radermecker to upcycle some of its waste into fertiliser for the local agricultural sector.

Mr Quintin compared the changes for the team’s leather artisans to those chefs might experience when bringing their know-how and recipes to a bright, modern, well equipped new kitchen after years of working in an older, “more complicated and harder to manage” set-up.
