Social media push proves successful for World Leather

World Leather and leatherbiz passed a social media milestone at the start of June, with followers on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Medium and Instagram reaching a combined total of 9,000 followers.

This represents an increase of more than 130% since the start of 2020 and publisher, World Trades Publishing, said this rise in followers was the outcome of “a determined effort to grow our presence on social media as a result of the covid-19 pandemic, to make sure we continue to connect with all readers across all platforms”.

It said this following on social media was “comfortably double” the level that any of World Leather’s rival titles has.

World Trades went on to say that the 9,000 followers it has across the leather industry is part of a company-wide total that has now reached 19,000. Its other titles are World Footwear, WSA for the performance textiles and footwear sectors, and Inside Denim.

Commenting on the figures, World Leather’s commercial manager, Mat Abbott, said: “We’re delighted that our efforts to remain connected to our readers during these long months of lockdown have paid off. The pandemic all-but eliminated travel and business gatherings for a time, but to have been able to grow our community so successfully on social media has enabled us to help fill the gap.”
