USDA revises 2021 beef consumption upwards
Global beef consumption is likely to surpass 60 million tonnes in 2021, according to new forecast figures from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
In its report on the world meat market for April, USDA revised its forecast for the year upwards and said it expected global beef consumption to be just over 60 million tonnes, up by 1.6% compared to 2020.
Beef consumption in China will grow by 6.3%, according to the forecast, reaching just over 10 million tonnes. Consumption in the US will be flat at 12.5 million tonnes, up slightly in Brazil to just over 7.7 million tonnes and down slightly in the European Union to just under 7.7 million tonnes.
