Virtual SLTC conference goes ahead

The UK’s Society of Leather Technologists and Chemists (SLTC) held its 2021 international conference as a virtual event, hosted by the University of Northampton.

Chief executive of leather and leather products manufacturing group Pittards, Reg Hankey, delivered the Atkin Memorial Lecture, the event’s keynote speech, named after former SLTC president, W. R. Atkin.

A virtual tour of the university’s Institute of Creative Leather Technology (ICLT) followed.
Speakers in the conference’s second session included Dr Matt Walker from Trumpler, Elisa Palomino from Central Saint Martin’s in London and Dr Stefan Davies from ICLT.

Session three consisted of a panel discussion on the sustainability of leather, chaired by Dr Christine Anscombe of SATRA. Panel members were Deborah Taylor from the Sustainable Leather Foundation, Dr Kerry Senior from Leather UK, Dr Wolfram Scholz from W2O Environment and Dr Matt Walker from Trumpler.
