Brazil tanning exports up, finished leather dominates
Brazil exported leather and hides with a value of $319.3 million in the first three months of 2021, an increase of 18.8% compared to the same months last year.
In terms of quantities, tanners and traders exported 45.6 million square-metres across the three months, a fall of 2% year on year.
National industry body CICB said finished leather had accounted for 55.4% of total value between January and March 2021, with wet blue contributing 28.5%. Quantity-wise, finished leather made up 50.7% of the total and wet blue 39.8%.
