Supplier support for LCA earns praise from PrimeAsia

Leather manufacturing group PrimeAsia has paid tribute to three of its suppliers for their support in completing a detailed lifecycle assessment (LCA) of its production processes.

At the end of March, PrimeAsia announced that it had completed the LCA exercise after 12 months’ hard work. It said it had had to collect data from 266 process phases from operations in five different countries.

It has now named and thanked three suppliers, from Australia, Brazil and the US, for their contribution to this data-collecting effort. It said Casino, Minerva and National Beef had understood the value of the project and contributed valuable data.

Chief sustainability officer, Fernando Bellese, said the three suppliers had provided important support for the project, which he said would bring more transparency to the leather industry, generating “sound science-based information about the environmental impact of our products and identifying opportunities for further efficiencies”.
