Stahl CEO to step down
Leather chemicals group Stahl has announced that chief executive, Huub van Beijeren, is to step down after 14 years in the role. He has decided to retire, the company said, but will remain as a member of the board.
Stahl immediately announced that its new chief executive will be Maarten Heijbroek, who will join the company on July 1 from UK-based specialty chemicals manufacturer Croda International. Mr Heijbroek is Croda’s president of consumer care.
Executive vice-president at parent group Wendel, Félicie Thion de La Chaume, suggested that Huub van Beijeren had wanted to retire before now but had extended his tenure to help steer Stahl through the covid-19 crisis. He will retire when his successor joins the company in July. Ms Thion de La Chaume said he had developed a position for Stahl as a global leader during his years in office.
She also welcomed Maarten Heijbroek and said his broad experience in the chemicals sector and his track record of growing businesses organically and through mergers and acquisitions would be “real assets to support Stahl in the next steps of its development”.
