Tokyo showcase for circular accessories brand
A Lanarkshire-based accessories start-up, Rocío, is one of 13 contemporary Scottish lifestyle brands to have taken part in a special Scottish showcase event in Tokyo in mid-March.
Thirteen brands won the opportunity to showcase their products to the Japanese market at an event called Project Tokyo 2021, arranged by the Scottish branch of industry organisation Fashion and Textiles UK with the support of trade promotions body Scottish Development International.
Rocío, the brainchild of designer Hamish Menzies, crafts high-end handbags from acacia wood and full-grain leather. It was the inaugural winner of the Circular Economy EDGE Award. This award, presented by Scottish government-funded Zero Waste Scotland, aims to encourage and back entrepreneurs who are exploring circular ways of doing business.
