New issue of World Leather is out now
The electronic version of the December-January issue of World Leather is now available on leatherbiz. Subscribers can read the e-zine version in the ‘WL Digital’ section of the website. In the days and weeks ahead, we will post the individual articles from this issue in the ‘Features’ section of leatherbiz; this is a crucial part of our recent redesign and relaunch of the site.
In this issue of the magazine, we present a new interview in our Leather Leaders series, this time with the president of the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies, Dr Luis Zugno. He thinks that, when we do, finally, emerge from lockdown, people will seek out beauty and things of lasting value, and that leather will have a big part to play.
The new issue of World Leather also includes a relaunch of the Nothing To Hide series of essays about the leather supply chain, and we have an updated version of Essay One on the economic, social and environmental benefits in turning hides and skins from the meat and dairy sectors into beautiful leather.
Technology-wise, we offer a deep-dive into Silvateam’s new biocircular concept, and our Leather and the Circular Economy series continues with six new articles that present thoughtful arguments for, and examples of, leather’s circular-economy credentials.
Finally, our Beast to Beauty feature this time highlights the merited inclusion of Fratelli Peroni in Fendi’s craft-focused special bag collection, Hand In Hand. The Florence-based artisan leathergoods brand is at the forefront or preserving a special, stitching-free production method, the ‘cuoietto artistico fiorentino’.
