Footwear group Bata has announced that the head of its business in India, Sandeep Kataria, is to take over as chief executive of the company with immediate effect. He replaces Alexis Nasard, who has left the organisation.

Chairman of the board, Graham Allan, said he was confident Mr Kataria, who has led Bata India since 2017, would lead the global company well “at such a critical time”.

For his part, Mr Kataria said: “While 2020 has presented unique challenges, the appeal of our brands and the passion of our people provide every reason for confidence regarding our prospects in the years ahead.”
