Leathergoods manufacturer to open new factory
Leathergoods group Tolomei has confirmed that it is preparing to open a new workshop in Haute-Corrèze in central France.
It has told local media that the new facility will open its doors in the village of Monestier-Merlines in January with the workforce at the site growing steadily to around 60 people.
Tolomei is the majority shareholder of leathergoods brand Le Tanneur, acquiring its stake from the Qatar Luxury Group in 2017.
Le Tanneur has been making high-end leathergoods in France since 1898. It has a chain of own-brand boutiques across France, a presence in department stores and in hundreds of multi-brand retailers. It also has an e-commerce business.
The site at Monestier-Merlines will be around 40 kilometres from two existing Tolomei workshops in the town of Bort-les-Orgues.
