Climate change and covid-19 could be causing low demand for leather garments
Turkish leather garment manufacturers have complained of facing an ongoing decline in demand, in spite of low raw material prices.
Local commentators have said prices of raw domestic sheepskins for making nappa and of lambskins for making double-face leather have gone as low as $1 per piece in some cases.
Garment manufacturers have said climate change making cold winter weather more uncommon and covid-19 restricting the time people spend outdoors could be contributing to low demand for their products.
