IHL moves closer to zero-waste

29/10/2020

Thai tanning group Interhides Limited (IHL) has announced a series of recent developments that it says are taking it closer to running a zero-waste operation at its leather manufacturing sites in Bangpoomai.

It is installing a new water recycling system that it says will allow it to use treated water in its liming process. Solar energy installed on the roof at the main site is now fully operational and is saving IHL 30% in its monthly energy bills.

It has also begun using lime-split material to make dog-chew products and has decided to put this into full operation in December, bringing the products to market at the start of 2021.

IHL was the winner of the global Tannery of the Year Award in 2018.
