Change at the top at Norilia as Lars Dørum steps down
Norwegian hide trading company Norilia has announced that director Lars Dørum has decided to step down after 31 years in the business. The company said Mr Dørum’s efforts had laid the basis for growth.
Earlier this year, Norilia set up a new joint-venture, Norilia Nordic, with Danish partner Himmerlandskød. Norilia processes around 90% of all Norwegian hides, which is about 270,000 per year, plus around 1 million Norwegian sheep and lambskins per year. Under the new set-up, the joint-venture is also aiming to process one-third of Denmark’s hide resource, a figure of around 150,000 hides. Norilia Nordic will also handle around 65,000 Swedish hides per year.
Norilia has appointed Tufan Yurt as acting managing director for Norilia Nordic and group director for the hide and skin business in Norilia. Mr Yurt has worked in the industry for 18 years, most recently as a factory manager for Norilia.
On taking up the new role, he said he was confident the vision already in place at the group and the high quality of the raw materials available to it in the Nordic countries would lead to further growth.
Lars Dørum will offer his services as a senior advisor and will work closely with the new management.
