PFMA elects new chairman
Managing director of Bata Pakistan, Imran Malik, has been elected as the new chairman of the Pakistan Footwear Manufacturers Association (PFMA) for the next 12 months.
Muhammad Mehr Ali of Khawaja Tanneries will be senior vice-chairman, and Muhammad Zubair of UE will be vice-chairman.
On taking up the post, Mr Malik said production costs in Pakistan were making shoes produced there uncompetitive in the international market.
He said he would try to convince Pakistan’s government to provide tax concessions and export duty rebates.
