The launch of a new online store for UK-based Lakeland Leather is said to be helping the company reach a wider range of customers and validating the brand’s decision to invest in its online strategy.

As reported in Prolific North, a publishing and events company based in Manchester, England, Fluid Commerce (an e-commerce growth agency) worked with the 60-year-old leather brand on a site that now has flexible payment technology, integrated product recommendations and personalised results for shoppers.

Since the launch, the company said, its conversion rate for August was up 10% year-on-year.

Paul Atherton, e-commerce manager for Lakeland Leather, was quoted saying that the company had increased its investment in this area over the last few years. What Lakeland had previously anticipated to be a gradual move by consumers toward more online shopping was accelerated by the coronavirus pandemic.
