Berlin-based artist Ruohan Wang has applied her talents to a trio of Nike trainers, all part of the Flyleather line which features uppers made with at least 50% recycled leather fibre.

In addition using recycled leather, the shoes’ emphasis on sustainability comes through in Ms Wang’s designs which include “aqueous blend of colour and motion, resembling the earth’s natural forces” and Chinese characters for “natural circulation” and “power and love”.

“The earth belongs to every person. Every culture is part of this global mission to protect it,” said Ms Ruohan. “Given my Chinese background and my artistic training in Berlin, it felt right to present that motivation born out of many cultures.”
