DriTan-treated shoes win German design awards
Two shoes treated with Ecco’s DriTan technology have earned recognition at the German Design Awards. Both shoes — the Biom 2.0 and the Exowrap — are part of the brand’s outdoor spring/summer 2021 collection.
DriTan technology is designed to be a water-saving alternative to traditional tanning methods and keeps the shoes “made for the elements”, according to the brand. The Exowrap (pictured) is made with nubuck leathers and other premium textiles, while the Biom 2.0 has leather detailing.
“As we deepen our ongoing commitment to the outdoor category globally, our product and design teams are always raising the bar for themselves to bring fresh and relevant styles to the new athletic outdoor consumers of today,” said Nikolai Christensen, global head of Ecco Outdoor.
The German Design Awards are organised by the German Design Council, and Ecco was recognised in the category of Excellent Product Design in Sports, Outdoor Activities and Leisure.
The awards will be presented at the Ambiente trade fair in Frankfurt in February 2021.
